Prior to last night's game against the Pistons at The Palace at Auburn Hills, LeBron James touched on the story that has been all the talk in Detroit: Miguel Cabrera's contract extension. "I wish we didn't have a salary cap," James said. "The best players in each sport should be rewarded. It would be nice to sign a 10-year contract for $300 million. I would do it. I would do it for sure." LeBron also said that he would opt out of his current contract to get that type of deal this summer.
Thanks to endorsement deals with the likes of McDonald's, Nike and Coca-Cola, LeBron made a cool $42 million in 2013. Then, you tack on the $19 million he made off his contract with the Heat and it comes out to over $60 million last year, nearly double what Cabrera will make in one season under his new deal. So, yeah, LeBron will be just fine with what he's currently pulling in.
