Freehand Profit recently released one of his most anticipated projects, his 118th sneaker mask made from the Yeezy II. You might remember the 8&9 interview with him during his first trip to Miami for Art Basel in 2012, saying that he couldn't wait to chop a pair of Yeezys. Well the wait is over!

Freehand setup and shot three separate shoots for the long-awaited Yeezy II mask. One of which was done in the Bronx with the help of @Team8and9, @Figgs8and9, @StylishSinner & @AJS_pointofview.

"The Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt were the embodiment of Horus, the falcon-headed sun God (which is the Greek name, in Ancient Egyptian he was referred to as “Heru”). Son of Osiris and Isis, brother of Set, his miracle birth (thousands of years before Christ) brings some to believe Horus is the basis for the story of Jesus.
6 years and 100+ masks and No.118, the Golden Yeezy II Horus mask, is a (literally) shining example of my inspirations and influences combined. The masks still examine our worship of material goods while exploring and cultivating culture by infusing ancient traditions into a modern mindset.

Even though the Yeezy II has multiple references to Ancient Egypt, the fact that the Red October Yeezy IIs that hit my block were customized gold is what pushed me to transform them into Horus. The Ra/Horus emblem on the Yeezy II tongue has always jumped out at me, it’s design is so well done that as a designer I actually find it a bit hypnotic. But when I saw it in gold it called for me to bring Horus to life. If the shoes had been red it’d look like a cardinal, not a celestial falcon headed God – gold carries that power. In fact, Ancient Egyptian referred to gold as the "skin of the Gods"." - Freehand Profit
